The Derry Chinese School Marches on in the Londonderry Old Home Day Parade

Last Saturday (August 20th), the Derry Chinese School (DCS, www.derrychineseschool.org) was represented in the annual Londonderry Old Home Day Parade. It was a terrific event, well attended and great fun. The Derry Chinese School members and extended family were walking in the parade and handing out Chinese candy to the crowds.

The parade was attended by Governor John Lynch who actually took time to visit with the Derry Chinese School participants who shared with him the Derry Chinese School charter. Governor Lynch was genuinely impressed with the work of the school. He commented on how culturally enriching a Chinese language school can be in the lives of a community like Derry, and he was very encouraging.
